Project Trailer
Team Kennedy Trialer

Commonly known as "Skylab"

Back a few years ago I had a Pace American Conquest
7'x14' trailer custom built for the Team Kennedy fleet. The
idea is Cathy and I will eventually purchase a small
motorhome and pull the trailer behind to our contests and
the NATS. The trialer has been a work in progress since I
took delivery. It has been fun customizing the base trailer to
fit the requirements of hauling competition airplanes around.

It is definatly a rolling shop. I can not tell you how many
times I have helped a fellow competitor with parts and or a
place to work on thier airplane at a contest. It has been
given the name "Skylab" This happened one weekend at a
contest when I was asked how quickly did I have to get
that trailer back to NASA on Monday? (as if I borrowed the
trailer from them).

I have to admit it is great to have at the NATS. I pay the
electirc hook up and keep the trailer at about 50 degrees F.
Nice for those hot days and relaxing in between rounds.

I will explain some of the things I have done to improve on
the base trailer in hopes that it may give you some ideas.

Rear mount. Fully
adjustable up and down
track on wall.
This wall mounted rack system is made with uni-strut channel and brackets
ordered from McMaster Carr. Plane cradles are made from wood and painted
or covered in Monokote. Velcro straps attached to cradle secures airplane for
the ride.

table can be set up on this side of trailer for
Cathy to run contest scoring or as work surface.
Storage box on tounge for gas fuel
cans and power cords. Motor base
plug on side of trailer to connect to
external power. Trailer equipped
with Pace ITS. Independent
Torsion Suspension. This creates a
very smooth ride for the aircraft. I
highly recommend this type of
suspension. Trailer pulls very well.
